Finding ways to help while staying home

Like many others fortunate enough to still be healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve struggled with a desire to find ways to help others while following orders to stay home. Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Nick Kristof of The New York Times has devised a way for people to lend a hand by identifying “five organizations that are responding brilliantly to the coronavirus and have sound plans to expand their work if they can raise the cash." Every penny donated to these organizations through the C-19 Impact Initiative goes to those charities. One of them is Catalyst Kitchens, an organization that provides nutritious meals to hungry families in 32 states with an added level of philanthropy:  The organization trains the homeless and other disenfranchised people to prepare the food that is distributed, creating opportunities for them to find jobs in the food industry in the future.

    What's Here

Lawyers are people, too. This is a place where I celebrate, reflect and maybe even vent about aspects of life, sometimes on subjects entirely unrelated to my law practice. Like Springsteen. And Detroit City FC. Or craft beer.

The opinions and obsessions are my own — they are not endorsed or shared  by my colleagues at The Googasian Firm, or for that matter, my family.
